GSG News Brief From Central & Western Gharri Regions

News brief from El Wak, Central Gharri region, Kenya and moyale, Ethiopia  Tuesday March 20, 2007 By Gur Gharri GSG News Contributor

The Murale people have been instigating and pushing for all out war with the Gharri people. On March 16, 2007, Murale gangs began beating up the Gharri herders at Alango, and the Gharri herders fought back with their fist and began defending themselves. Minutes later, the second group of Murale gangs with machine guns raided them and stole their camels. According to our informant, there weren’t any casualties, but six people were injured and one sustained very serious injuries.

The authorities are perusing the lead to recover stolen herds and capture those who are responsible.

Why are they starting a war now? Who is behind them? Do they really believe that they going to win this war and gain some sort of recognition? If that is what they are looking for,  they are dead wrong. They will be the losers this time around, and regardless of who the perpetrators are, or are behind it, the Gharri people will respond swiftly , as in "eye for an eye" doctrine states and they will be treated the same way they are treating others.

Moyale, Western Gharri Region
