Full-fledged war has broken out between the Gharri and O.P. D. O. region
in Western Gharri region
On April 22, 2008, the O.P.D.O’s militias intercepted by the Gharri
indigenous land owners and were crushed before they reach El Gof town,
killing 3 and wounding 18. It was said that the rest of enemy’s
combatants escaped
According to eyewitness accounts, the O. P. D. O’s militia’s camp at
Balale was attacked when they made a move to attack and capture El Leigh
and they were repulsed and retreated.
Also, it was said that most of O.P.D.O’s forces were from local and
indigenous people in the area whom were forced to fight against their
will. So, they weren’t willing to die for what they called an un
injustice war against their neighbors. Therefore, when the fighting
erupted, most of those people had no reasons to die for, they abandoned
their positions and went home. The rest were defeated and escaped in
disarray.
On April 21, 2008, the Oromo People’s Demonic Organization called for
peace dialogs and invited the Gharri region leaders to Malka Abrona or
Guba . However, their main objectives were to kill all the Gharri
leaders. So, they ambushed and killed one of the Gharri leaders Mr.
Isaaq Golo, and the rest were rescued by the Gharri indigenous militias
that were stationed nearby.
The notorious butchers of the Arero Massacre of 2000, have received
their own dose of medicine. Jarrso Thatho and Sar Halake were killed
last week at Uloqo battle ground allegedly.
