On August 07, 2012 The Ethiopian and Kenya
military launched a joint military operation
overnight against an Oromo Liberation Front’s
rebel base in Kenya.
The operation took place at Dambal Fachana
located about 15 kilometers from a Moyale border
town. According to our informants, during this
operation 37 Oromo rebels were killed and their
entire cache of weapons and food rations were
seized. Also, in this operation 6 Ethiopian
soldiers were reported killed and 4 wounded.
The Oromo rebels were accused of carrying out
the recent fighting in Moyale town that resulted
in the loss of many lives and exodus of refugees
crossing into Kenya.
It was said that the Ethiopian Armed Forces
gained knowledge about rebels’ involvement and
their whereabouts from those who were arrested
on July 27, 2012 while they were heading to aid
their comrades fighting against the Moyale
Somali residents as well as from intelligence
gathered by Kenyan Armed Forces
