A RESPONSE TO THE FABRICATED NEWS STORY CREATED
BY DESPARATE BORANA OROMO
It was said that the Borana herders and the
Ethiopian Somali region militia (Liyyu Police)
engaged in gun battle on November 08, 2017 in
Nagele district, Guji Zone. According to the
report, the Somali militia was defeated by the
Oromo Nomads, who only carried a few rifles with
limited ammunition. In the process, the Somali
militia killed 3 cattle including below pictured
heifer and many more were wounded.
The
proclaimed events are illogical as it is
unthinkable to say that an outnumbered Oromo
herder carrying one or two riffles defeated
highly trained and heavily armed militia.
Therefore, the Borana’s claim is beyond the
peel.
According to
reliable information received from Nagele, Guji
Zone, the following event took place on November
8, 2017. The Borana herders took their cattle to
Somali owned farmland in order to damage crops.
They were told to keep their cattle away from
there on many occasions, but the Borana herders
failed to do so and forced their cattle into the
Somali farms to destroy unripe crops. In
retaliation, Somali farmers fired a few shots,
one of which struck and killed the above
pictured heifer. The Borana in turn falsified
the story in an attempt to get support from the
peace loving Guji clan member and named the
well-known Guji herder as the owner of the
deceased heifer. However, it backfired on them
and the Borana did not gained any support from
anyone; they were seen as pathological liars
whose main intention was to lineup Oromo people
and take over the Somali own land.
