Mr.
Abdinuro, Mr. Hassan Shina, Mr. Ali Abdulo, and Mr.
Ibrahim have been released on February 28, 2006.
The
two TYRANT thieves, Mr. Ibrahim Bitati the Moyale District commissionerand
Mr. Kunaye’s right hand man Mr. Abdirahaman Karama
and money embezzler have been sacked thereafter on
March 1, 2006. Many more of their colleagues are
expected to be sacked sooner than later.
According
to news received from Moyale District, three local
merchants and four others were arrested on February
27, 2006
The
three merchants were arrested and their maize was
seized in Chamuq location in Moyale district. The
three merchants were accused of buying stolen food
rations. According
to information received from Moyale, Ethiopia,
Mr. Malin Isaaq Qamathi and Mr. Malin Yaqob were
behind the stolen food rations that were intended to
feed the famine stricken Pastoralist people in the
district.
Now,
they are arresting the people that they sold the food
rations to in an attempt to switch attention from
themselves and their boss Mr. Kunaye.
They
have been arrested and accused of stealing food
rations that was intended for the needy people, and
their warehouses were taken over and locked by Malin
Isaaq “Qamathi”, and Malin Yaqob.
The
statement reads that, the local merchants were used as
scapegoats simply because they declined to donate
money to Mr. Kunaye’s defense fund account. After
the arrest, Mr. Qamathi, and Mr. Yaqob seized their
warehouse and merchandize. Normally it is the local
police department and its officers who engaged in
investigating and arresting suspects of interest, but
this time the two famous “Qamathi” (wheat) thieves
went to the people who they sold the food rations and
made arrests simply, because those merchants declined
to give them any unwarranted loans.
However,
our reporter indicated that there has been no record
of police reports in regard to stolen food rations.
The local district administrators have been taking
loans from these merchants and many others and paying
them back with food rations.
Therefore,
the Moyale citizens and the citizens of forty four
Kebeles, have concluded that the arrest of the three
merchants has nothing to do with any thing else, but
to show the authorities that they are not involved in
corruption and the selling of food rations, and once
they become aware of the situation, they acted
accordingly. So, to say they had nothing to do with
food rations been sold in the open markets. But, it is
believed that this event if any will prove, the
allegations of fraud and corruption that were filed by
the community elders against these administrators.
Because, there’s no police report existing regarding
stolen food rations, rather, there has been ongoing
litigations pending that alleges about food rations
being sold to local
merchants by the District administrators in advance
prior to food ration’s arrival under the orders of.
Mr. Malin Isaaq Qamathi, who is Mr. Kunaye’s agent.
Mr.
Malin
Isaaq was elected as MP in August 2005 to represent
the people of Liban Zone in Somali region Kili5 to
take a seat in Federal government.
Also,
Mr. Malin Yaqob was elected as MP from Moyale
constituents, and was promoted as the Liban Zone
administrator in Kili5. However, these two gentlemen
have not served the interest of the people and have
failed to even take their seats since they were sworn
in six months ago. Rather, they have been working as
Mr. Ali Mohamed Kunaye’s “Qamathi” (wheat)
salesmen.
We
have learned that a complaint has been filed against
Mr. Kunaye, due to a public out cry for his
involvement in disappearance of food rations,
corruption and for imposing an unauthorized illegal
triple taxation against poor pastoralist that they are
suppose to be helping.
Also,
the information coming from Kili5 alleges that Mr. Ali
Mohamed Kunaye’s Land Cruiser has been seized as
evidences of corruption mounted against him, his field
lieutenants have began distancing themselves and now
trying save themselves. So as these new events unfold,
it is feared that they may turn against him soon.
Because, it is impossible for the local officials to
act alone without Mr. Malin Isaaq “Qamathi”, Mr.
Malin Yaqob’s and Mr. Kunaye’s knowledge for the
local officials to act alone. Mr. Kunaye has been the
recipient of seventy percent of revenues from all food
rations sold and the rest divided amongst his agents.
