The elwak hospital has been filled with the people complaining of stomachache. A woman only known as the wife of Haji Afey and the daughter of Isaaq Jif died on April 13, 2006 after complaining of a stomachache. Also, a man by the name of Sheikh Isaaq died on April 10, 2006 from the same symptoms.

On Thursday April 13, 2006, the Borana clansmen raided the Gabra herders in Moyale district and got away with close to three thousand cattle. These attacks come after the tragic events that took the lives of fourteen Kenyan leaders. It is said that this round of raids has been characterized as a revenge for previous, the raids that were perpetuated by the Gabra against the Borana herders without any provocation. Also, on Friday, another attack was carried out against the Gabra clansmen and the raiders for allegedly belonging to a Borana clan got away with twenty eight cattle. There are no casualty reports from either side.
