Response to the Standard Media web page Report dated June 7, 2013 in regard to the reported killing and abduction in Mandera County

By CYRUS OMBATI: MANDERA; KENYA: Two people were Thursday night killed and two girls abducted in fresh inter- clan fighting in Rhamu, Mandera County.” Police say Eight Camels were also killed in the attack that targeted one of the two main clans living the area.”

First off, shame on Mr. Cyrus Ombati and the person quoted as a northeastern police chief Charlton Mureithi . They are nothing more than paid liars and whose main objective were to receive bribes and in return fabricate the worst lies imaginable. There have been no killings of animals and no kidnapping of any person by Gharri people ever took place. IF anything really happened, then, it was committed by the Chief Charlton Mureithi’s own police forces, since most of the heinous crimes in Kenya are committed by police personnel themselves.

Furthermore, the Gharri and Degodia people have been fighting on and off for many generations. However, the killing of animals and kidnapping of herders never took place. In addition, Mr. Cyrus Ombati and Charlton Mureithi have no credibility what so ever, because, they are paid to fabricate such fiction.

As a journalist, Mr. Ombati was supposed to fly over there and report what he witnessed and absorbed. Also, the police chief was supposed to deploy a team of crime investigators and security personnel and then makes his report based on their investigation. They have no evidence of what they are reporting about, and have no crime scene photos or pictures of deceased people and killed camels. Rather they seats In Garissa and spew venoms to insight trouble and cause mayhem between the two neighboring clans.

It is clear that the report of killings and abductions was intended to equate the Gharri people with Al Shabab, therefore, Mr. Cyrus Ombati and Police Chief Charlton Mureithi must recant and apologize to the Gharri people. Furthermore, all area police personnel must be removed and replaced by the locals who know each other’s cultures and language more than those imported thugs who’s only motivation is to get rich by instigating trouble between two clans. Why are all those security personnel located in Degodia inhabited towns and villages in Mandera County? Because, they are not there to keep peace and tranquility; they are there to get paid by pretending to protect and preserve peace, when in reality, they are a nuisance.
