Kenya:

According to information coming from Moyale, 6 Borana individuals were arrested by Kenyan Defense Force (KDF) in connection with the recent fighting between the Borana and Gabra clans. Allegedly, some of the men were carrying ammunition, some were carrying walky-talky radios and some were carrying guns.  Also, all of the Borana citizens who fled to Ethiopia during the week of skirmishes have yet to return to their original villages since most of their homes were burnt to the ground.

Tensions are high between the Gharri and Borana communities over the rights of the Mata Arba water dam. So, the local authorities from Oromia and Somali region administrations along with the local community elders’ from both communities have been scheduled to meet there today in order to ease tensions and prevent any further escalation.
