Reports from Moyale, Ethiopia say that hundreds
of heavily armed Oromo State Police and Militia
began attacking the city of Moyale and the
surrounding villages on Friday. Many of Garre
and Gabra villagers were killed in the raid. The
militia used Mortars and rocket propelled
weaponry to displace thousands of villagers. The
reports indicate that the town of Moyale,
Ethiopia is currently under siege. The Ethiopia
Federal Army is accused of allowing the Militia
to loot and destroy most Garre and Gabra owned
properties. Mr. Mohamed Ali said that the Garre
neighborhood is actually burning. Thousands of
Moyale people have been forced to flee.
According to Mr. Ali, most of the Moyale people
have fled across the Kenyan border and thousand
are internally displaced. On Friday morning the
Oromo Militia and Police were firing Mortars and
rocket propelled grenades into the civilian
areas killing scores of people and resulting in
much property damage. Mr. Ali lamented that
“This is an extremely serious incident. We have
confirmation that some Federal troops were
involved in killing of civilians and taking
sides. This must be stopped.” Garre are facing
the worst of this ethnic cleansing ever and he
stated that “We are appealing to Ethiopian
Federal Government to stop the killing and
ethnic cleansing of Garre people.”
On the Eastern Side of Libaan Zone the Degodia
tribe, who are in cohorts with the Oromo
Militia, have attacked Garre villagers killing
many and raiding thousands of their animals. The
Garre Warriors have caught up with some of
Degodia terrorists and killed many of them. The
whole raiding and killing of Garre by Oromo’s
and Degodia tribe is a calculated political move
of Kenya Degodia merchants who have been buying
weaponry from Somalia. A Degodia Business Man
known as Mr. Burhaan, has been involved in the
whole affair of displacing Garre and the
slaughter of so many innocent people. The Garre
are appealing to the Government of Kenya to
arrest Mr. Burhaan for instigating the death of
so many people.
