On may 20, 2009 one Gharri herder was brutally killed near Huddet. The
perpetrators are believed to be OPDO operatives from Arero.
The Gabra and Borana
clashed at Did Guchi and two Borana men were killed and two Gabra were
wounded. Subsequently the Gabra Herders have fled to Kenyan side of the
border.
Also, head of the OPDO
region department of Agriculture escaped to Kenya. and his son was gun
down few days later in Moyale by unknown gunmen. But, it is not clear
why he was killed, but believed to be politically motivate.
The Oromo and Gharri peace
talk will began next week in Nagele. So, Four Districts administrators
from Moyale, Huddet, Arero, and Dhass have been ordered to participate
in the peace conference.
Heavy rainfall has been
reported around Moyale District.
