The Borana and the Degodia clans have formed
a mischievous militia alliance and began
disturbing the peace and tranquility in
Southern Ethiopia and Northeastern Kenya
border communities.
Ethiopia
One Boran man was killed at ballale on
10/25/2012. According to authorities Gharri
people are to blame for his death. However,
initial investigations have traced the
killer’s footprints to a Boran village. Now
the Boran villagers have been asked to hand
over the killer or else.
Kenya
On 10/25/2012 AP’s station at Malka Mari
Kenya were shot at by unknown gunmen. The
local Degodia village headsman blamed the
Gharri people for the shooting. However, all
evidence so far points to the culprits being
from Degodia.
Also, gunmen shot
at a Kenyan military convoy on the same day.
Now the authorities are putting pressure on
the Degodia with talks about disarming the
Degodia people.
Also, there are suspicions that the Degodia
and Boran are collaborating to wage war
against the Gharri people and their
interests. Just look at what has happened on
last Thursday, October 25, 2012 and the
similarities of the two incidents previously
mentioned. The Boran’s killing of one of
their own citizens and blaming it on the
Gharri. The Degodia shooting at an AP’s ward
at the Malka Mari post and an army convoy
while blaming both acts of terrorism on the
Gharri people. Both seem to be acting in a
coordinated effort to stir trouble between
Gharri people and the government and it has
backfired. Diligent Investigations have
confirmed that both clans are behind the
above mentioned criminal acts and not the
Gharri people.
