The
Kenya and Ethiopian army joint operation on
Monday and Tuesday in the Sololo area have
resulted in four armed men dead and one
captured. According information received
from Moyale, Kenya, the four who died and
the captured individual were from the Borana
clan. The authorities have offered the
bodies of the deceased to the Borana Elders
so that they would bury them, but the Borana
community rejected the offer stating the
deceased men were not Boranas but, armed
rebels who had nothing to do with their
clan. So, the four lifeless bodies are lying
at Moyale town, Kenya.
Also,
the Borana elders and politicians are making
a mockery out of the newly arrived delegates
that were sent to Moyale to assess the
property damages claimed by both Oromo and
Somali. They claim Chamuq, El Gof, Malab,
Tatesa, and Did Guchi as their towns and
that all the destruction of the properties
were caused by the Gharri Somalis. However,
these claims and their earlier claims of Al
Shabab fighters raiding their villages have
damaged the credibility of the Borana Oromos.
The delegates are already aware of what
locations belong to whom and which regional
administrations those towns and villages
were run by.
In an
attempt to set precedence and curtail
unending conflicts, the Oromo region
administrators have taken drastic change.
Four Borana Arero district administrators
including the district commissioner, his
deputy, head of internal security, and
public administrator have been replaced with
Guji and Gabra clansmen.
